NOW IS THE TIME,FOLKS! (SEI:Self-Environment Inventory)
NOW IS THE TIME, FOLKS! TIME TO BE HONEST WITH OURSELVES AND OTHERS!!!! Have you ever wondered why we act the way that we do? The way that we do as people who suffer from some type of mental illness, the feelings of 'superiority' and of 'conquering the world'? Has anyone ever quit their medication without the Doctor's permission or even for that matter when the doctor has taken them off of the medication? How many of us, and be honest, have 'persuaded' the doctor to take us off of a particular medication for one reason or the other? 5 weeks ago today, I have done that persuasion with the doctor; and it has almost cost me my husband, my friendship, my relationship dearly. The doctor obeyed my request at that time but only after weaning me off of it. The result was bitchiness, grumpiness, arguing, arguing, and more arguing and fighting, fighting, and more fighting. It was a never ending vicious circle. I was supposed to do a homework a couple of weeks ago for my therapist, but didn't (write it down). Rather than do it the way she requested, I have been trying to do a 'Self-Environment Inventory', or SEI. An SEI is purposely taking the time to FORCE yourself to calm down, mentally take inventory of what the situation was at the time, how it could have been handled calmly, and how it could be handled better in the future, followed by (if appropriate) an apology. The SEI is an ongoing process, that will never end while we are alive. My end result of the SEI at this point in time, is that today when I saw my doctor, I was totally and completely honest with him and told him that I need to be put back on what was discontinued by my request at the last visit--Abilify, 5mg. If anyone needs help with their SEI, please send me a message, and I will try and respond as soon as I can here on DS. Thank you, and God Bless us All...and... HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2008!
