November 7, 2011 - general update nothing special....
Hi everyone,
Doing ok. Plugging along with going to the BETC and taking interviews for agency work. I have a busy few days. Tomorrow, I have conseco life insurance interview at 11:30 (one on one), then an agency interview (both are in the same town - northeast of me). We'll see what Conseco life insurance can do for me. The thought of working with the over 60 crowd intregs me, except I wouldn't be a HHA, I'd be an insurance agent (in about 4-5 months)and making great $$ (this way I can be able to do alittle traveling - to say maybe my sister in Colorado). Then the other agency interview. Its just that, an interview to get into the door. Just like Selective staffing. I recently got my SS card in the mail so I can start working. Then Wednesday, I have another agency interview at 9am. Then that damn Dept of Labor orientation (which I have to go because its part of unemployment benefit). Thur and Friday is wide open. I will keep you informed of my Conseco life insurance and the 2 agencies. I will give everyone an update on Wednesday evening.
Met up with the BETC employment counselor. She saw my resume from my flash drive. Saved it on her hard drive. We went over some paperwork that is important to read over. I have to send her a copy of a coverletter(for what, perhaps another job I applied for - its only 3) and my reference page. I lost her card so I will have to obtain it the next time Im there. That will most likely be Thursday. I was gonna take this library course but I have that 2nd agency interview and that definitely takes presence of the seminar.
My friend Robyn called me this morning before I left for the BETC - she had a job prospect at Western NY medical, PC. Its for a medical service rep (sort of like a referral/approval customer service rep). I went on one of the BETC computers and applied for it. I also applied for something at United healthcare but I got stuck on one section - something to do with reference letters. I may just try and get back on tomorrow morning and bypass this section online, if it will let me. I am suppose to get a reference letter from Arlene but I haven't heard back from her. I will have to call her tomorrow at home so when she returns to work on Wed - she can do this.
Guess what! I finally talked to Debbie. I didn't bring up the past, the fact that she left without saying goodbye and ignored me for a few months. I told her what had happened with the termination in Clin ed. She did feel bad for me but wasn't surprised about the management issues over there (she worked there as an RN for some 25 years). It was nice to talk to her again. I guess we can be friends again but on a limited basis. She no longer lives in my neighborhood but in Tampa Florida. I will be filling you in about her later on....
I know, now that things are getting a little bit better - I should start to exercise again. Perhaps after thanksgiving - I will make it a priority. It would be nice If I can get something by Dec 1 (or even Jan 1). Im in no hurry right now, I am working on my microsoft 2007 powerpoint skills first (then word and excel 2007 - just for a review and maybe learn a few tricks). That should carry me into december. I want to learn quickbooks too so I can have that under my belt (all these classes are free at the BETC - no charge). I'll keep you updated on the powerpoint class (thats on monday).

Good luck with the interviews. The classes sound like a great idea and it\'s good that they\'re free. I\'ll be keeping my fingers crossed that you get something really soon.
You\'re making great progress. There is a lot of money to be had in insurance sales, but it takes a special kind of person. Insurance salespeople face a lot of rejection and it is hard work. Moreover, the company usually leaves loopholes in their products in order not to pay out claims. Just some things to consider.
I think sprucing up on your Excel skills is wonderful. It\'s definitely the most difficult of the MS Office programs to use.

Way to stay positive and stay busy on learning new skills. You can never have too much training.
