November 2, 2011 - quick update, heard from Arlene

I got up kinda late today.  I was tired and stayed in bed until 11am.  11!!  Shame on me.  I have to get up tomorrow by 9 for a phone interview with Geico.  I am debating if I really should go for this job.  I know they probably would hire me in a second.  Not sure if thats what I really want to do, its not in my heart and changing my mind about it.  So...I might not pick up tomorow morning.
Arlene called me yesterday after I called the Unemployment job place (I received a letter from them to come next wed).  I was told to report anyways even though I am with BETC.  Hopefully they will sort that out.  I'll go for the orientation class because they will talk about unemployment.
Arlene gave her notice....yep!  She told them that she does not want to work there anymore.  It was because of ME!  She was terribly hurt that they let me go.  I mean devistated.  So, she gave Diane and Jen 2 weeks notice.  She thought it wasn't right when they supported me so much last year and now they are not.    I guess it got much worse after I left.  Todd, the only male educator has given notice too.  Apparently, he has been quite ill and they are frowning on that.  Pneumonia!  Bah!!  that can't happen.  Its a time and attendance issue.  Because he is a RN, he will go back into the RN pool on one of the floors (most likely a critical care nurse).  I also heard today that the CEO of DeGraff (where my landlord works) has been let go (this site is way up in niagara county near Niagara Falls).  And the medical director at my former hospital site was let go too.  Dr Vari!  Damn...that makes no sense whatsoever.  His wife is the COO of the hospital system and I thought he was safe!  This is crazy.  Arlene told me that in 2 weeks, there will be many more upsets.  As I hear about it, I will let you know.  She said that she was afraid to call me and needed time.  I told her I totally understood.  Not sure when I will hear back from her - most likely when she's gone.  Arlene said that they will post my job - but most likely bring in one of the executive secretaries/assistants.  Its a huge paycut (they were making 48,000 a year and I was only making 33,000).  Fine by me because I don't think it would be wise that they get someone from the outside because it would be looked upon as getting a friend of Jen's in the position.  I understand things are going ok for Sonja - most likely because she is the last adm standing but Im sure she will be on her way out soon as she finds something or when something opens up.
Went to See Judith the employment counselor.  She seemed pleased with my whole demeanor.  I am no longer stressed out about anything.  We talked about what I've been doing.  She seems to think that I may be out of work for the remainder of the year (which is 2 months). Also, after my session was over - Judith gave me a huge hug and wished me well.  I don't have to go back anymore.  One of the ED managers was in and she was next.  I was surprised, she was too.  I told her I was doing ok but didn't want to get into it.  She was happy to hear that from me.   Yes Bri, I told her my fear of taking a job and not being happy with it.  She seems confident that I wouldn't let myself do this (its not like its 1990, age 24 and not having the common sense).  Im still going to look further into Conseco Ins.  I will go as far as one on one to decide from there.
I had to make a weekly calandar for myself because I was getting my scheduled things mixed up.  I have to go to a resume class at the BETC tomorrow from 1-3pm.  Thats fine.  I also have to fill out the cobra insurance paperwork tomorrow.  I have a nephrologist appt on the 17th and that needs to be covered.  Plus I have my meds to think about and deal with my kidney issues.
Well, this journal turned out longer than I expected.  Have a great night everyone.
