Nothing under the tree
Most of the presents are open, waiting on my granddaughter to come and get hers. The boys spent the night and opened their presents. My daughter could only get them one Santa present, so I put from Santa on one of the ones I got them. I tried not to spend so much on them this year, so they got 3 presents each. I forgot one of them, so I'm taking him to get tennis shoes tomorrow. We're all going to a Hornets game tomorrow also. I asked them all to give me a Christmas present of a clean house, since I was working so much. It mostly was clean until this morning. That's a good mess, though. What's sad, is there was nothing under the tree, at all for me. I know things are tight, but a $5 something, would have been better than nothing. I have to remember the reason for the season, and it's also mostly for the kids.
Merry Christmas to my goofy frog, I miss you so much

I know it\'s hard not to receive one gift under the tree. Many times parents do so much for adult children, they don\'t think about our feelings. I have been disappointed with one of my kids this Christmas and was blue all this week. We will feel better when the holidays are OVER! Meanwhile, we will remember \"the reason for the season\" and be thankful for past Christmas memories!

My granddaughter bought a present for me, so all was not lost. Merry Christmas everyone.
i am so happy that your granddaughter got you a gift. there is a bit of a child in all of us on Christmas so yes, a gift always makes it all feel right.
i am glad you had time with those you love

Thats what I felt, no presents for me at home to open, nothing under the tree at all, thats because Roger and I put ours under the tree/ and/or had Grandkids ones under the tree. While its not what or getting a present, its just nothing there for you at all when all your life there has been something thats what was sad for me. Another thing to adjust to.
I had a gift from one stepson, one from a girlfriend in NJ & one in Arkansas. They arrived at the last minute & I did not like looking at the tree without packages so I put pictures of my loved ones under the tree. It looked real nice.

PS Brother-in-law, his wife & her son brought gifts to dinner. BIL\'s card was nice & he added the following;
I hope this Christmas will be a good start to the next chapter in your life. Old memories are to be cherished, But new ones should be looked forward to. There are many out there to be discovered. Love, Gary.
I don\'t see that in my future but I hope that he is right.
It hurts when you are from a giving background, and other people in your life aren\'t sensitive to that.
I would focus on teaching the younger ones to give, and turn it into something positive. It hurt the first few times I experienced it. Now I don\'t expect anything, and am rarely disappointed with one child. I give to her hoping that it will catch on...one lesson at a time. I\'ll be working on that one soon, trust me.
