nothing yet

J had this rheumatologist appointment yesterday and just as I thought - she couldn't diagnose what he has - yet. She did say that it could be one of two things - 1. reactive arthritis - the virus that settled in his knee (he was sick w/fever the previous week or 2. some kind of audio-immune deficiency.  He does have a slew of other chronic symptoms that he's had for years that makes me think it's more than a reaction but I'm not going to go there.  We'll wait for the lab results and then go from there.  The good news is --- his pain is just about gone - no more pain meds, crutches, and down to a few Advil a day!   Received a few emails of support from a few of the school board members. Of course, not from the one who "admired our passion" and went on to say that many people have passions and causes (her passion is diabetes) but --- actually I can't remember what she said after that because I know her & I knew it wasn't going to be supportive. She loves to make a stance and call attention to herself.  She had to make a point to everybody that she's know our children since they were in diapers....yadda, yadda - and your point is?  Whatever.  All I know is that diabetes is nothing like drug addiction. One cannot compare the two. You can't give someone something and give them diabetes.  Drug use can be prevented juvenile diabetes can't.  Two students from her son's and our son's graduating class died as the result of drug use.  I wish I would have thought to ask her how many kids did from their graduating class died from JD?  My nephew has JD - and I can appreciate how serious it is but - one has nothing to do with the other.  There's always someone who makes these things challenging!  But I guess that's part of it. There is no EASY BUTTON in life!
