Note to self

OK Note to self, Do not throw one self off a hay stack while on high doses of coumadin. I seem to have a knack for being the biggest Klutz in the history of the world, and that's probably not a good thing while on Coumadin. I went out to feed the horses and realized that I needed to climb up on the stack and throw some hay down, well at least enough for a few days. As I grabbed a bale by both strings I twisted just enough to toss it off the stack when I had a spasm in my back, that in itself was bad enough but it caused me to buckle and as I did the hay bale slid off the stack. I did manage to get my right hand out of my glove but my left hand was stuck fast, so down I went with the hay bale.........5 tiers rolling ass over tea kettle until I got to the bottom layer where I stopped with a 70 # bale landing smack in the middle of my chest (talk about knocking the wind out of ya). I ended up having to go to the ER because I thought I hurt my back which was already buggered up and had to take a week off work until I could get in to get a steroid shot in my back to ease the pain and inflammation. Yes I am bruised from head to toe, all on my left side. The Hay hook landed back side up (Thank God) on my left foot which chipped the top of my left foot so couldn't get a shoe on, and I strained my left wrist to the point it too was x-rayed to make sure it wasn't broke. Yes I got a major lecture from the ER Doc, My hubby and all the Doctors and nurses I work with demanding I stay the hell off the hay stack. Now Hubby tosses the hay down for me piles it so I can slide each bale into a wheel barrow when I go feed. I feel like an invalid, I have never ever had to rely on anyone to do my chores for me. The only good thing that came out of the whole mess was I was able to go hunting while I was off work (from the back of our ATV) and I rattled in a nice 4x4 white tail buck. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving as I did. My Children and Grandchildren were here for the week, I am truly blessed LOL and yes i got the lecture from my daughter who is also a nurse about climbing around on hay stacks.

Oh Joyce, that sounds so CRAZY scarey. Glad you\'re ok. Here\'s what I think. I think the fact that you were just doing what you normally do, regardless of being on warfarin, is a very psychologically healthy and embowering thing to do. Do you know what I mean? So yeah, glad you\'re not hurt, but I love that you just get out there and do stuff, if for no other reason than it\'s just gotta get done.

You are one bad ass lady!

So glad you\'re ok (well, minus the bumps, bruises and swollen wrists). I\'d stay off the hay stack long enough to heal up, keep everyone happy, LOL. But the show must go on!
