Not thinking

It's amazing what can happen when you're not thinking.  Early this morning I let Foxy out to do her thing in the back yard.  As usual I stood on the top step at the door leaning on my cane.  She'd just gotten to the the gate when a bark rang out from the dark across the street.  Being the friendly and curious dog she is, she made a 180 degree turn and headed to the front yard.  Frantic, I went down the steps yelling at her to stop and come back.  She's learned so much that she stopped,,,looked at me,,and went to the back yard.  It was, then that I realized I'd gone down the steps without using my canes!  Not much if any pain!  Then, at the grocery store, the cashier who had checked me out came running to me as I pushed the cart out the door.  I'd forgotten the cane!  Just hadn't thought about it.  Maybe that's the key to getting better.  Just don't think about it.
