Not the news I had anticipated...

Well our doctor appointment was not at all what we had expected & I honestly feel like the rug has been completely pulled out from under me. I guess all my eggs that were retrieved were abnormal, not one or two but ALL 34 of them! He said some of them were so oddly shaped & formed that he hadn't seen anything like that in his career. We can do this again but he feels that it would be just as successful as the first & that the odds of my conceiving a child with my own eggs is highly unlikely. I'm absolutely devastated, heartbroken & frustrated. It pains me that I will never know what my husband & my child will ever look like nor will we get to say he/she got my smile or personality, none if it. A part of me still doesn't believe it, how could all of baby hopes get snatched away in a second. Now I have to deal & try to accept the painful truth that I cannot have a baby.

MJ, I am so sorry to hear of this news. I agree with Deezy that a second opinion may be good. If/when you think it\'s time for DE, I\'m sure you will find a ton of ladies here to offer support and answer all your questions!

Thinking of you!

I remember the pain of getting the same news. It sucks! I was pissed and so bone jarring sad at the same time. It does not hurt to get a second opinion at all. Who knows, a different protocol could maybe yield better eggs. Take time to grieve the news and when you are ready to move forward, whatever plan you take will be the right one for you.

Just an FYI, I went the DE route and am now pregnant with two little boys. Not a day goes by that I am not thankful for our donor, but she does not really factors into my thoughts about the twins. These kiddos are 100% mine and I am so glad we decided to go this route. It took us a good 6 months to decide to move forward with a DE. It was a break we needed, but I have no regrets at all that we did it. Also, just because they are not your eggs, does not mean they will not have similarities to you, especially in personality. They will also be biologically yours, just not genetically. If this is a route you decide to look into, let me know and I will be happy to answer any questions that I can. Hugs to you!

I\'m so sorry MJ. Take time for you - to grieve, cry, be pissed at the world. Reevaluate when it feels right to you - get a second opinion, different doc, different protocol, whatever it is you need. In the meantime - know there are so many of us out \"there\" who are holding you up, praying, offering virtual boxes of Kleenex and bottles of wine, and a shoulder to cry on. Screw IF - You are an incredible woman that WILL be a mom someday!!
