Not sure what day it is, but have been MIA
It has been a looong time since I've posted. Last weekend I was in LA, and I have been busy during the week. That's the extent of my excuses... and now the running:
I have definitely been skipping days, and I don't like it. The rest of the last week I posted I was on schedule until I went to LA, and skipped my weekend runs. Last Monday, I did a 4 miler, fast, which was Saturday's workout. I felt great doing it, actually, and am pretty proud of the pace I kept up. According to my watch, I did the first two in just under 18 minutes, and I feel like if the course were flat I could do the same with the second two! But those damn hills.
Tuesday I ran 3 miles, supposedly easily but I didn't really. Went pretty fast and I WISH I took my watch. Wednesday I took off, Thursday I ran 3, and Friday and Saturday I took off, then ran 5 on Sunday. Today was busy, although gorgeous, and so I didn't run again. I did go biking (in a not so good area of town), but it was nice to switch it up a bit. It was to attend a conference on journalism in the Middle East, which was fascinating, but at the same time a bit revealing of both how distanced I am from much of the goings-on of this world and what a different, maybe sheltered, life I lead compared to those who grow up in areas like Egypt with oppressive regimes. One panelists mentioned that children "cut their teeth" on the judicial and political systems, because there is a very direct connection between the inner workings of both and their very survival. I thought about my own connection to the judicial and political systems, and how many middlemen separate me from the actual issues and decisions that are made. It's not necessarily good or bad, just different.
I'm hoping to be back on track tomorrow. I'm trying not to stress about it and just "get back on the horse." This week's workout:
Tues: 3m
Wed: 8 x 400
Thurs: 3m
Fri: Rest
Sat: 5m FAST
Sun: 7m
Let's see if I can stick to it this time!
