Not Such a Bad Easter
The anticipation of an event is often the worst part of the whole experience. I, like many widowed women, was dreading the holiday of Easter Sunday. Sitting in church with my usual three feet of personal space is not easy when every couple who had ever attended there, plus their family, shows up. I feel like a weirdo most Sundays sitting alone, but Easter, I feel especially abnormal.
I tell myself; you are an adult, this is nothing compared to some of the things you may have to face the remainder of your life. Slip in, find a seat and quit whining. I do. I get there early, find a seat with one other person way on the other end, and plant myself there. Music starts up, hugging time. Greet your neighbor. I stay put shake hands with those around me. Good morning, happy Easter. Hear a voice in my ear, a very tall man asking if he can squeeze in beside me. I say sure, move my stuff and in he comes. I turn around and take a look at him. Oh man, the guy had a fractured skull at one time. Very noticable depressed fracture with cracks running down the left side of his uneven head to behind his ear. Can't hide it, poor guy, he's bald.
Turned out he was important too. Pastor called him out, they both reminisced like two old friends during the sharing portion. He was a nice man. Was out riding his bike early one evening and a car hit him then sped away. He lay in a ditch at the side of the road a long time. It got dark and he could hear traffic going by just a few feet away. I remember his story mentioned before, how he knew he was going to die and never felt so alone lying there, and how God spoke to him telling him he is never alone, then someone stopped in the darkness and found him. The story resonated with me, I am never alone, and I am grateful.

yup yup never alone....I went to my old church Sunday with mom....it was different...recognized just one person in the choir and nobody in the sanctuary...then leaving saw my BIL\'s mom too....and to make it really interesting my lusty self gets the best of me when this family with two drop dead beautiful young teenage girls sits directly in front of me...mom right in front of me then the families plain jane younger daughter and the drop dead gorgeous blonds sitting next to her and dad on end down to the right....oh my was I praying to have my lust removed...LOL and then of course the sad part was the one that was prettiest had a problem of conceit I think...she did not seem to want to be there...did not want to take the hymnal in her hands and did not.....her other sister who was also blonde bombshell held her hymnal and looked around at people...this other one just straight up not a glance anywhere to imply that she was curious about who else was there....I felt sadly that she probably is suffering from being so beautiful....suffering the unwanted advances of her teenage male counterparts and any other who would see her just as a drop dead looking babe....but I felt sorry that she probably would bow to her ability to pull attention....which she obviously knew she had the ability to do....I just pray she is able to be a real Christian and able to go forward and not make mistakes really that I surely made about drugs and alcohol where I just prayed she could find a really good man who is able to be successful and provide for her life with her needs being overly met....my home town is sort of affluent and I prayed she found someone who could give her that life....she sure looked so able to give a man a thrill....but said it before I think she was a bit conceited and maybe even more stuck up than she should be as a good Christian would not be that way...
sorry I am digressing....I suffered bad thoughts during my services...but I knew to ask God to make Lust objectionable and remove mine for me....
Sheesh, Bill. How come you\'re wasting time in church? Aren\'t there any strip clubs nearby? Maybe borrow a few bucks and find some dame to satisfy your lust. You don\'t have to stay long or drink, just pay for hers and she\'ll go home with ya. Mama mia! You make it sound so difficult.
