not sure

It's too late - the decision was made.  We hired T's former court appointed attorney to represent him in court.  If T hadn't made any progress then I guess I would have a problem with it.  On the other hand, T's been so squirrelly, at times, and has gotten away with so much.... is this the way to go?    The lawyer, whom we all like, suggested that we postpone the court date until next month so that T could improve in his school work.  Talk about incentive!  Maybe this is the way to get him motivated!!  The lawyer gave it to him straight - telling him that his decision to not try in school is just plain dumb.  He, basically, read him the riot act but softened at the end of his "speech", telling him that he knows he can pull it off.  T told me that he really wants this lawyer to represent him, other than the fact that the lawyer knows his case.  He also said that the lawyer is "so much nicer" to him.  I told him it's obvious he's not using because now he's starting to get that people are actually trying to help him.  He was a stinker before - which is why the lawyer spoke to him in the tone that he did.  T just wasn't listening before.  Maybe it is starting to click. As I mentioned before, I am one of two who will be representing my state in Washington DC this month as an advocate of families with children with a substance addiction.  Well....the other person, from across our state, cancelled.  His replacement?  My friend from my parent support group!! She e-mailed me to let me know!  I saw her last night at group and I'm thrilled she is going!  She just lives a town over and perhaps we can work together on the "plan".  I already want her to be one of the instructors for the parenting classes I hope to set up in the future!  Cool, huh?  Small world!  Thank you God!
