Not Getting Along So Well

Since being back at home I've been having problems with my parents. We no longer see eye to eye and I think they have a problem with that. I think it's because I'm their first child and they aren't use to having one of their kids actually turning into an adult. I barely willingly speak to either of them now. My mom and I actually had a falling out recently.
Since coming from college I've gotten rid of a lot of clothes that I haven't worn in over a year to make room for my new clothes. I didn't have much room in my closet even after cleaning it out, because my mom has her scrubs and my great grandmother's clothes in my closet. Since my great grandmother doesn't live with us I figured she may want some of her clothes since she lives with her daughter. So I told my mom this and explained that since I didn't have enough room in my closet that we should give my great grandmother some of her clothes. Then she went off on me. She said that I didn't care about her grandmother and that I was like everyone else not wanting anything to do with her since she was old. This hurt me very much because I consider my great grandmother a second mother to me. It also hurt because she yelled at me to just take her clothes out of my closet since I didn't want them there. She also told my dad and they talked about me behind my back and loudly at that. It didn't hurt anymore I was just mad and I got supper pissed when she told my great grandmother.
Not only that, but while I was helping my great grandmother walk up the ramp to church (she has a cane), somehow she feel. I was scared because I thought she hit her head since she did years ago when she broke her hip. So I called for my mom to help and people from church came flying out to help her up. My heart is in my throat by then. So my mom asked if my brother or I called her. I told her it was me. So she said "uh huh your nerves bad huh?" right then and there I wanted to yell and scream everything in the book at her. I don't know if she was kidding or trying to make me feel bad, but I wasn't having it. So I don't speak to them much. I only really talk to my brother who I love dearly. Even though we may disagree at times, we're siblings so we always make up. I'm actually saving up my money to move out into a studio apartment and stay in the town I go to school in.
My brother thinks this is a fun idea. He's already planning to stay with me during his school breaks.I wish I could keep him but I know I can't. When it comes to financial support my parents have that down pack, but mental and emotional support they need help with. It pisses me off more because it's their job to help people get their life together and they act as though they can't help us.They really piss me off about my brother. They always yell and fuse at him, but never help him. I try by best to, but food is a comfort to him. I work out with him as much as we both can.He started to develop a tough personality around second grade when a group of boys started fighting him saying they wanted to initiate him in a gang and a boy in the restroom told my brother he'll give him a pencil if he sucked his "thang thang". He doesn't like to talk about it so I feel he tries to make himself forget.
I think he's getting better but he can only get so much better when my parents keep being so negative. They call him fat saying he won't ever get a girlfriend the way he looks and so one. They even talk about his grades but they won't help him. He's knows how he looks. He's 12 and weighs 200 pounds, but they continue to feed and ridicule him. I try to tell him to not listen to them and that he's doing the best he can. He says he doesn't listen to them but I think it still hurts him that they say those things.
I want to take my brother with me but I guess the only thing I can do is just be there when he needs me. I feel Ishould have him come on this site, but I don't know if he's old enough or if he'll even want to talk to others or if he'd even ready. I just want him to truly be okay.

Hi, booklover! It must be really difficult dealing with abusive parents. I\'ll pray for you and your brother.

Thank you Lynnie. Things are getting a little better. There are times when things get a shaky. I do believe my father was emotionally abused when he was growing up. It would explain why we never saw his parents as much as my mom\'s and why he never talked about them so much. I believe there are things my dad refuses to talk about and admit. My mom can just be a mean lady and not know it, even though we try to tell her. Prayerfully I hope they both get better so we all can have a better relationship together as a family.
