Noodles will burn if you let them

So I live in a house with 6 other people. This morning I woke up and one of my roommates, let's call him "L" had been cooking. Well, sort of. I came down to make myself breakfast and could smell something burning. I walked in to find an empty kitchen. Yet the stove fan was running and there was a pot on the stove on a burner that was turned on. I looked in the pot and there was what appeared to be badly burned brownies in the bottom. I turned off the stove and moved the pot off the hot burner before opening a few windows to air the place out. I looked around for clues, there was an empty macaroni and cheese box with the sauce packet still on the counter and L's dishes (we all have personal, color-coded dishes) were on the counter. What? Well shortly after I sat down with my food L came in stretching. Long story short, he had fallen asleep with noodles on the stove. Seems all the water had boiled off, the noodles had dried out and then caught on fire before burning themselves out. Dry noodles do have a tendency to burn if heated. In my head I want to scream "OH MY GOD! HOW COULD YOU DO THAT? YOU COULD HAVE BURNED DOWN THE HOUSE! HOW CAN YOU BE SO IRRESPONSIBLE? HOW DO YOU EVEN GET NOODLES TO LOOK LIKE THAT?" But I did not. He was lucky he had used such a big pot- it had scorch marks going pretty high up the sides of it and the noodles had become pretty solid ash at the bottom. The experience has left me scared and angry.
