No cooking this week!
I’m getting a break this week. Tim left Saturday morning to go on a mission trip with our church to Eastern Kentucky. I don’t have to cook, and there’s a lot fewer dishes to wash. He won’t be back until Friday morning. Somebody help me out here: a Bible college in Eastern Kentucky goes to other states on mission trips, while churches in Western Kentucky go on mission trips to Eastern Kentucky. If that makes any sense to you, please explain it to me.
I do have to feed the silly chickens every day, twice a day, and gather the eggs. And I let them out of the pen for an hour or two each day to wander around the yard and the adjoining hayfield to “graze”. Silly chickens ----- 2 of them think they’re human. They come up to me and talk to me. I just talk back to them. There’s one very curious Russian Red who follows me around when I’m putting out feed, changing their water, and getting the eggs. She watches me and clucks the whole time. I pet her. Yesterday, I didn’t take any “laying mash” out to them. So, Russian Red walked over to the empty food tray for the mash, looked at me, pecked the tray, walked a circle around me while clucking, then went back to the tray and pecked it again. I went and got them some mash. She’s really smart, for a chicken, anyway.
The fireworks at the Western Kentucky State Fair weren’t very good this year. Budget cuts, I guess. We did have a nice good old American cookout, though. My mom brought potato salad, baked beans, and coconut cake. I brought broccoli salad, corn salad, and sugar free banana spice dessert (a cinnamon-graham cracker crust with a layer of sliced bananas over that, then a layered mix of sugar free instant vanilla pudding, sugar free instant banana pudding, lite cool whip, and cinnamon), for my son-in-law’s diabetics parents and their friends. There was much more food, including hamburgers and hot dogs, and the kids had a fantastic water gun fight. The kids also shot off some fireworks in the back yard. I think one of them tried to assassinate me --- a hot, spent fireworks casing landed in my lap. After that, my son–in–law made them go farther out into the yard. I did get some of what I consider to be high praise. I found out that someone said that my oldest niece, my daughter, and I all look just alike. I think my daughter and my nieces are gorgeous. Me --- not so much! But I'm honored to be ranked up there with them, anyway.
I wore a pair of size 6 dress pants to church tonight, and they fit! I’m back into almost all of my old clothes. I even have to wear a belt with some of my size 8 pants! Now, if I can just get some muscles back. I wanna be me again!!!! Y’all know what I mean.

Hey there PR, I had names for all of our chickens when I was a kid, and a relationship happening with each of them.My mother always said I was the sensitive child out of her five children.Yep too sensitive, I am the only one in the family with burnt out adrenals and cfs.Maybe I was accidentally born in the wrong family LOL !! I know your daughter is gorgeous looking, I bet you are a real looker too.Photo please awww come on now !! Now with Tim away, I just wonder if you can put your feet up and have a lazy pampering week. What about a bubble bath like Ruthie does. You do so much for your family and work hard so think of some things to do just for you this week.Bye Nancy, hugs from down under in crocodile land.
WOW, very smart chickens you have there! I think they were trying to tell you that just because hubby was away and you don\'t need to cook for him...you\'re not off the hook for getting THEIR food, so bring on the MASH! OK? I think that\'s what Red was trying to cluck across!!! He got his mash, so I guess he did a pretty good job. Nice that you talk to your chickens and pet them!! Everyone needs to feel appreciated.... the little egg layers that they are!!
Sorry the state fair was a disappointment! Sounds like the food was sure good though!! YUM!! I\'ll bet that pie is just as good with less sugar. It sure sounded good when you were describing it! Thoughtful of you to think of the folks with diet restrictions!!
And WHOOO HOOO to YOU HOOOOO for the weight loss and fittin yourself into those jeans! What an accomplishment. YOU GO!! As long as you stay away from the \"state fair\" type food, you should be able to maintain!!
Good to see the journal! Hope you are feeling ok!! BIG HUGS! oxo
Glad to here how you\'re doing. It made me smile to read your news. Nice to find yourself still considered to be on the same page as your daughter and niece.
