nightmares / funny story

so every since i had my arm ripped off by a piece of heavy machinery, ive been having really bad nightmares.  the ptsd alone is bad enough when im awake but when im asleep i have no control over what's going on.  ive had hundreds of then since, gruesome just, disturbing dreams, but never about the accident itself.  like, i literally had my arm torn off (for those who dont know) at the shoulder, and it wasnt just yanked off, it was slowly torn from my torso, it was horror movie.  anyways

so since then, nightmares have been a recurring theme in my life, but last night bad.  i dont know what it was exactly, i dont believe in god or ghosts so im not concerned w such things, but this was some type of a creature that i was being tormented by, and im proud of myself in way, bc instead of cowering, i decided to get up and fight it.  i said f this s*** and i stood up and started swinging.  Now we all know in a dream you cant punch, or kick, not at real speed...but i was trying and not connecting so i just lunged at it....

i woke up faceplanted into the wall across the room.  twisted my knee backwards.  it was rough, and im just glad i didnt land on chair or face first into the wireless router, that things antenna coulda blinded me.

anyways, so theres a funny yet also slightly troublesome story for you.  it just worries me if this is to be a regular thing and if maybe i need to be restrained at night.

someone could get hurt, even if its just me.

i hate my brain.

Big hug for you Tryna.... Night terrors stemming from PTSD are awful..... There's a medication that several people that are on the PTSD board are on called prazosin

I think it can be pretty effective..... There may be real life groups for PTSD in your area or even re entering society that might help... I'm in Toronto and here they have the John Howard Society.... I'm not sure where else it may be available... xo

they had me on prazosin for a while right after the accident, it did help for a little while but it eventually wore off and i ended up right back where i started. but thank you, if i hadn't already known about it , that info could have been a huge help. thank you
