Nice Driver
Had to go to the E.R. Monday night. Had had a doctor's appointment Monday afternoon, but the fluid buildup around my stomach wouldn't allow me to drive. My stomach was loping over the steering wheel. I called Vickie to let her know and see if she could take care of Kit because the last time I went in for the same problem, it was 6 weeks before I got out. I was going to call for an ambulance to take me. She came down and took me and said Kit would stay with her. She gave me $20 in case I got out early. The docs decided not to admit me and I called a taxi to get home. I figured the taxi would take my debit card and I might be able to talk the driver into stopping by a store and get me a pack of cigarettes. Well, the taxi wouldn't take the card so the cigs were out. The driver was a very nice young man who helped he get my legs in the taxi. I told him what I had planned and he said he was sorry. When we got to the apartments, he helped me get out and gave me an unopened pack of cigs. I had planned to give him the whole $20 since the fare was about $4 less and he had helped me. I guess he just broke even with the "tip" covering the cigs. He didn't have to do it, but it was a nice gesture at 2 in the morning.
