Next Few Days are Busy

Today, I went to the Nursing home and took a friend of mine's mail to him.  I went by and seen my sister and my brother-in-law.  They are bother there too.  My bil wanted me to take him home to get a couple sweaters, etc., so I did.  I then came home and cleaned out my gutters and flushed them out with the hose.  I did a few odd jobs and then I worked on messages and spent about an hour on the phone with various people from my church.
Tomorrow, I do a funeral for a man who took his own life on Monday.  He lived about 6 blocks from me.  I have known his family for a long time. I believe this is my 25th or 26th funeral this year. Last year I did 35.   Friday, I take my Harley in for a new clutch.  It has been giving me trouble and I haven't got to ride much this summer.  Saturday, I go back to where I used to live and take my grand-kids to a fall festival . They have a big parade, etc.  Then, back home and ready for Sunday.  Sunday is a busy day for me but, it's my favorite day.  Monday, I do my nursing home visits. I have another funeral to do Oct. 8th.
There are 8 churches in this small town of 1200 people and I do more funerals, than all of the other Pastor's combined.  Sometimes, I have to turn down funerals due to a conflict with another funeral I am doing.  This keeps me busy but, I feel blessed to be able to bring comfort to those who have lost a loved one.  Each funeral I do I make personal to the one who has passed. I do not like "canned messages" and I have known preachers who do this type of funeral.
I have tried not to let funerals get to me over the years but, since my son was killed in 2005, funerals are hard for me because they bring back the loss and the sadness so vividly to me, over and over again but, the Lord gets me through them each time.
