New to diagnosis 6 months and need support
Dear Members -
This is my first entry in this forum and like most of you are going through the initial learning process and figuring things out is very scary and daunting.
I have been diagnosed with cirrhosis, not sure of the particulars, meld scores, stage etc. I do experience tea colored urine, but no jaundiced coloring yet, but it appears to be inevitable.
I am a 50 year old guy and like many of you drank way too much through high school, college, professional life and now the chickens are coming home to roost in my liver.
I have very elevated liver and kidney levels and just recently saw my urine as very dark brown after a fall off the wagon, and now I fear for my life like no other time in my life. I have two high school boys and I fear that I will not be around to see them grow into men.
I am utterly terrified over my diagnosis and while I take the folic, B-1, magnesium, meds due to having my varicies banded and I feel there is more that I must do to try to stretch this life out for as a long as I can.
Just reading others stories here has given me more information than my primary doc, and my gastro doc have given me to date. They are very cryptic with any prognosis other than stop drinking, which I did listen to but there were times I fell back on bad habits. I know this is the last warning I will get from god, unless it is already too late for me.
Any words of wisdom are truly needed. Good luck to everyone on this support board.
