New School Year, Old Problems

Well, first day of school came & went. Being high school, the kids did have homework. What did my son do all evening long, past 11pm? Close his door, "doing homework". Once, the door opened & I saw the open notebook on his desk, blank.

I kept asking, why are you doing this to yourself? Just do it! Do you need help?
I don't understand why he is just not putting pen to paper & getting it over with. I mean, this is getting waaaay too old. And I beg, beg, beg God to intervene & get the boy motivated--I'm asking for my son's sake, not mine! Because I'm completely powerless to do anything; believe me, I've tried. Doesn't He care what happens to him?

I know that it's my son's problem, not mine; I know that. But it's like watching someone put a gun to their head. It's too painful. I went to bed in tears, curled up. Then my darn husband practically attaches himself to me. That does not help; it just tenses me up & annoys me.
