New meds tomorrow...
Tomorrow's my birthday (July 6th). My 'present' to myself is a visit with the psychologist to try other meds that may combat my depression. I've always felt apprehensive about meds to alter the human mind or mood so I still have reservations. I'm in a life or death situation in this battle and I have a 10yr old to think about so I'll set my pride aside for now for my son...

I\'ve had temperal lobe epilepsy for most of my life so I\'ve always had to take medication for it. It\'s taken some time to find the right one but I know for a fact I can\'t do without them. \'Anticonvulsants\' are what I take, which are different from \'antidepressants\' but each can only do good. Good luck with the psychologist. I hope your birthday proves to be a fruitful one. Take care.
Hi. I hope you go ahead with meds. I, too, have always tried to be \'medication free\'. Like it was a failure or something. Let me assure you, these meds will change your life totally for the better. And be aggressive about trying a different one if the first one doesn\'t work. Took me about 4 tries to find one that works well with no side effects. Your psychologist can be your best friend - but he/she can\'t prescribe, so you\'ll have to work closely with your primary care physician also. Have a wonderful birthday! Hugs to you!
I am so proud of you for wanting to get better for your son! I wish you all the best tomorrow. And Happy Birthday to you!!
Hope you do something nice for your birthday! Using meds is just something that some people need and if it makes you better then its worth it! It doesnt mean you will have to take them forever either.
