New Life

The last time I spoke to my father I told him to call me if he ever needed anything.  That's before he said that horrible remark about my marriage.
Now, I'm glad I told him that.  Whereas we can never have a  personal relationship again, I can provide for things he  may need.  Things such as a drive to the hospital, or picking up something he needs.  And after I'm done, I go home.  It's as simple as that.  It is something I would do for a stranger.
Forgiving him came easy too, so thanks for all the prayer.  I've forgiven him.  I've moved on.  I'm still  upset with what he said, but I won't let the words eat at me.  Instead, I'll treat them the way I would if a friend spoke them.  I'd listen, but do what I won't with no regard to their opionion.  And it wouldn't stop me from remaining cordial with them.  It's there opionion.  They're entitled to it.  I know the truth and that's all that matters.
