New home

I have .moved into my apartment and yes! I have internet now. It has been a long week putting this place together & I am still not done, but I think I have found a new home. It is starting to feel like "my place".  My daughters & their mates, plus the grandson came over for dinner last night & I managed to find something that all 4 picky eaters liked. It was nice, relaxing and fun. The grandson ran around un-arranging everything, which is his favorite activity these days, but he had fun too, so all is good.
I've had contact with him earlier this week (the X). I realized upon moving in that I was missing a lot of stuff - printer, personal items from my mom & grandmother, pot & pan set, etc. I texted him asking if I could come over & look up in the attic for missing boxes of stuff. Well that set off a string of abuse from him. I called him to attempt to smooth things over & act friendly. I knew I would have to take his verbal abuse in order to get my stuff, so I did. I had planned to just let him tell me what he needed to say and to keep up with the line of "I'm sorry, didn't mean to hurt you, just want to get my stuff."  I ended up getting pissed off & telling him he was a f*ing bully. He said "You better not go there, about what is wrong with me, I will tear you up." I said "I know you will. You're doing it now." He hung up.  Anyway he texted me the next day apologizing (which means B.S. cuz he keeps doing this) and said that he would leave my stuff outside his house. He did & I picked it up when he was working. I'm still missing more stuff because he didn't get it all, but I'm pretty sure I can live without it.
I am doing better. I am caring less & less about him & not feeling sad for him. His life is f*d up because of him. He is a smart man & does know why he lost me & why he is miserable. I wish him luck and God to help him heal, but I think I'm just about done losing sleep over him.  Thank you God!

It\'s lovely to hear you are enjoying your new place already and healing emotionally too. I\'m glad he isn\'t getting to you so much, and that you can have that compassionate understanding of him without needing to let him hurt or worry you any more, just letting him deal with the consequences of his own actions. Good for you.

This sounds like a real turning point -- so happy to read this. (Thrilled about your new home! Nothing beats having your own four walls.) I\'m glad to read he has less and less power to get to you. Wishing you lots of continued resolve and emotional Teflon-ity (? I\'m sure there\'s a better word) as you build your new life. But since what you\'ve just accomplished is SO incredibly hard, then it seems to me you\'ll be able accomplish whatever you put your mind to. Cheering for ya from Canada!
