New here
I recently (six months ago) realized that the diagnosis I received of fibromyalgia over ten years ago was either inaccurate or incomplete. After reading numerous descriptions of CFS, I took a list of symptoms to my doc to confirm and she says that I have CFS/ME. I have been kicking myself for over a year, trying to do things that I don't feel up to doing, stretching myself so thin that I get sick and stay sick for a long time with almost no cause.
I have finally decided to talk to my doc about it on Friday. I am currently working a full-time job, going to school part-time, and raising two sons. Not to mention supporting my emotional husband. For the last year, I have not been able to do my work. My brain cells just will not fire while I'm in the office. I can find myself sitting there all morning asking myself over and over "what do I need to do?" A trained monkey could do my job better! The worst part is that I want to do better, but I can't. I find myself crying as I sit in my office, cold as if I were in a meat locker, shivering and wondering how I can get my work done when I seem incapable of understanding the work I did last week.
It's so discouraging. I've tried to get DH to understand it, but he doesn't listen. When he does, he acts like it's no big deal. But it IS! I can't think straight, I can't handle noise, I can't move without pain, it feels like I can't live. When I started this job eight years ago, I used to go to the gym daily, eat right, and have energy every day. Now I've gained a ton of weight, can't walk without my cane or my knees feel like they are breaking, and I worry every day about losing my job.
I don't know what to do, so Friday I'm talking to my doc about disability. What else is there?

Hugs, JCP. I saw your post about being new to DS on the \"boards.\" I can totally understand your issues with your brain not firing while you are at work - that is so frustrating. I have had that issue for a while myself. I had to stop working about 8 years ago, but I still deal with that at home. I have been though a few medical issues these past 6 weeks, so I am not always on DS while I am healing, but I wanted to let you know I am available to support you when I can. I hope you get some help from the doctor of Friday.
Thank you!
Fibromyalgia and CFS go hand in hand, most of us have both
