NEW HOPE

I thought I would write my first journal entry.  Like most of you I suffer with fatigue, weakness, cognitive dysfunction, pains, anxiety and sleeping disorders. (which result in depression at times!) There are probably a few more ailments to add to the list but these are the main ones.  After 25 years of flare ups and remissions, I have pretty much tried most things.  Initially I was always full of hope when given a new treatment plan or diagnosis, but after so much time I became despondent and thought that I just had to accept that I had this thing and though people would say 'you don't look sick' which by implication follows.... so you can't be sick! - I just had to accept that nobody understood and I was alone in this.
I had my mother that would always be a support, though probably didn't really understand herself since she was so healthy. That is until she became unhealthy with cancer and I lost her 3 years ago, together with my support.
So - there is new hope for you all if you haven't already tried this.... There is research being done on Magnesium - it is apparently the 'Master Nutrient' If you are magnesium deficient then any other nutrients you are taking will not be absorbed. " There is evidence that Magnesium deficiency causes a variety of both humoral and cellular defense disturances, among which are several that have been identified in CFS and FM. (Chronic fatigue, weakness, depression and anxiety, sleep disturbances, neuromuscular irritability, pain, cognitive impairment....)"
Do some googling on Magnesium and Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia.  Imagine if it could be something this simple?! It's definitely worth a try.  I've just started taking Magnesium Glycinate which is supposed to be a highly absorbable form of Magnesium - but it can cause upset tummy, so be careful there. I will keep you posted. Hopefully we can find a cure for everyone!
With love and blessings

Great findings on the magnesium levels, have you read Dr Myhill\'s \'Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome\'? There is loads in there about magnesium deficiency and CFS and about dosage too. I hope you find the tablets help. Let us know how it goes.

I am sorry to hear your mother passed away, I cannot imagine how tough that must be. I hope you find support here that helps.

I just started Magnesium and I\'m not sure if it is helping or not. I\'ve been overdoing it a bit and crashing, so it\'s hard for me to know if the Magnesium is helping or not, but I\'ll keep it up and see what happens. I totally understand your cycle of hope and despair. And I get what you are saying about people not understanding. I get the \"You don\'t look sick\" thing all the time. I hate trying to convince people of how yucky I feel. So, mostly, I\'ve been trying to avoid them finding out, but sometimes I limp or something else (visible) happens and I have to give some explanation. I have found DS to be so wonderful because all of you are in the same boat. No one can truly understand unless they have lived it. We are living it with you and we are on the same journey. Be blessed in the knowledge that you are not alone and we will be here for you. Blessings and love to you.

Hi!

I am not Magnesium deficient. I love Dr. Myhill and follow her work. I have read up to Magnesium defiiciency and surely it causes major problems. I\'ve been tested many times during my past eight years with CFS! My levels are always in normal range. I did try it as a supplement in the beginning of my illness. It kept me running to the toilet! OH goodness. Diarrhea! Bad!! Same thing has happened to a few of my friends.

I think with my body\'s chemical sensitivities and according to my doctor, if I am not deficient in something, I cannot add it as a suppelment. My body just won\'t have it. But if I\'m not deficient...I don\'t NEED it....so my body wants rid of it.

I do hope this works for you. A little improvement is HUGE to us. So if you are deficient, the Magnesium could be very helpful to you. I hope so!!

Welcome to DS!

I\'m sorry you lost your mom! Me too. Thank God she didn\'t have to see me fall into this condition. I was always very active, as was she. It would have broken her heart to see me in bed.

God carries me through... xoxo

I take magnesium orotate from the brand Advanced Research. It fixed the problems with my legs. I\'m on a lot of vitamins that have drastically improved my health and I see a specialist who knows all about them. Glad you wrote your first journal! I hope you have luck with the magnesium.
