New gym membership

I've been without a gym membership the last couple of weeks because my old one kept jacking up the rates so I quit them and finally joined one.  In general the last 5-6months haven't been going well for my physical health.  I suppose I was doing good for the majority of Americans beings as I'm not overweight and such but I was in about as bad of shape as I've been for me personally in a LONG time.  A combination of being busy and being mentally weak(partly from insomnia related issues) led to me getting to this point.  Played pickup ball and omg let just say I'm so out of shape.  Felt like I was going to have a heart attack at times out there.  Muscles(mostly legs) felt really weak and like I had no explosion.  I've got a long time and ways to go to get back to where I was but this was a right step in the direction.  I think this new gym is really good for me because of several reasons.
1.  It's location is close to where I live AND right by the trax station I take to the university.  In other words, I can workout either before school or after school.  If I don't go, it's my own fault.  2.  My brother and brother in law are members of the same gym.  No one I knew was a member of my old gym...sometimes peoples schedules and things don't work out but sometimes its nice being able to work out with people you know(working out can get stagnant and you get unmotivated).  3.  I have unlimited guest passes.  Even though I don't have many friends,  if I make more or if some are in town, this will give us something free we can do(right now its snowing and I don't ski or snowboard so I hate winter; stick indoors!).  4.  I'm almost positive that practically every night I could play pickup games.  Basketball is the one type of exercising for me that doesn't necessarily feel like exercising...it's fun for me.  My old gym used to have guys that would play pick up ball but the last while seems like  no one was there...they probably all quit cause of the prices to.
But yes, I have a lot to do but I have a new gym that I'm a member of and next Monday I'm seeing the doctor for anxiety/depression.  Hopefully the combination of these things will help get me better than I ever was.  I've never been where I want to be but I've been as close to rock bottom the last couple of months as I've ever been.  It's going to have to be day by day but I think I can get out of this mess that I'm in.

Good for you. My insomnia has a lot to do with whether I work out or not. So when things go to shit, so does my workout. Sometimes it helps you feel better though. I think staying in shape and working out regularly helps combat depression and anxiety, maybe sometimes helps you sleep better. Day by day is where I\'m at, too. But each day can be a little step in the right direction.

Yep we both have battles and need to take 1 step at a time. I remember in the past that I actually stopped working out at times because of insomnia. I was so exhausted and just in so horrible of a mood that I wouldn\'t work out. I\'m ready for that now so I need to be more positive about working out if I do undergo sleep troubles. That being said, It illustrates that you can\'t lay all your eggs in one basket when it comes to trying to overcome insomnia. You need to exercise, meditate, resolve relationships, manage stress, and a whole lot more. It\'s difficult but you need to do everything, not just one thing. Your whole life has to be going well or at least acceptably.
