new drug trial
well.....a new drug trial is available. this time it is FG3019. it is from Fibrogen a company doing research into all diseases that are fibrosis oriented, not just pulmonary.
so far, they have seen some good results. in some cases, it actually reverses the fibrosis. it inhibits the factor called 'connective tissue growth factor' which is thought to be a protein factor that causes progressive fibrosis.
i signed the contract and did the first round of tests. just common baseline things such as blood, ekg, pft, and urine. the next round will be a HRCT. i should hear back on the first round within a week. the next round will take a bit longer.
i hope i get into this one. i didn't get into the perfinedone trial. perfinedone helps stabilize the disease, adding years to your life. can't believe that perfinedone is available throughout the world but not here. even more astounding is that it was first tested here and is still being tested. after 14 years and the acceptance and approval of over a 100 nations, one would think that the FDA would ok it. hmmm.....oh yeah. every trial makes the stock price jump. hmmm.....most of the IPF cases are in the US. hmmm.....couldn't be just about money could it? after all....we have the "best" health care in the world, don't we? or at least the most expensive?
anyways....am hoping that this trial comes through. it might not help....it might cause side effects that i may find unacceptable.....or it might be a godsend.....but at least it offers hope and offers me something in an effort to at least battle this rather than leave me feeling like i'm just hanging around waiting to die.....it makes me feel like i am doing something.....

JMO, hope and prayer are the least expensive of all treatments, yep yep, the dear ole dollar reigns supreme regardless the situation.
