Never send an email when angry - TO HELL WITH THAT!
So last Tuesday when I met with my friend the financial planner, she told me to ask 2 questions about the inheritance. The first one I'd already asked, was told by my aunt, the trustee, that I couldn't do it, and when I said so to my friend, she gave me that "TRUST ME" look - and I'm sure you can tell that trusting anybody right now is VERY difficult for me....
But I DID. I sent out that email asking the question again - "can I just get a cash payout directly from the trust instead?" KABOOM! HUGE Explosion! My aunt ANGRILY sent an email back. Apparently I CAN get my money directly from the trust! But SHE says that she had this all prearranged, that it means great returns (BULLSHIT - the returns to this point were DIRECTLY as a result from the BAILOUT! Think there's gonna be another future bailout?! NO... and because needed regulations haven't gone through completely yet, another meltdown can still happen and we would lose EVERYTHING!) And THEN she went on to describe what she was planning.... a new TRUST in all our names, and a high risk one at that and STILL with those BANKS! Which also means that I wouldn't have seen a single penny, AND I would have probably gotten stuck with tons of management fees on top of it. And at the end of the email, she angrily whined about how she'd have to do the figuring for the distribution all over again if I didn't agree to it.... (which btw, she'd already done, decided it wasn't "fair" because I was the only one who wanted cash and SHE didn't want to break up the shares.... BITE ME!)
And so I wrote..... "You'll have to do it all over again then." But I was considerate enough to tell her my reasons why.... including how a lot of important information was omitted (suggesting that I now have no reason to trust her either).
I also spoke to my Dad on Tuesday, he didn't mention any of this... but when the family finds out later today that we have to start over AFTER they already opened up their brokerage accounts.... again, I'm not gonna answer my phone for a while (good thing I live 900 miles away, lol). Yep, here I go again! I'm such a trouble maker, lol.... LATER!

It\'s a good thing you are a trouble maker and will have money in your pocket.
Your aunt has no right to make decisions for everyone without giving the necessary info for family to decide what\'s best for them.
I guess the s**t is going to hit the fan. Good for you. Sometimes it pays to be the family troublemaker.LOL
LOL... I\'m sure it won\'t be easy. Funny thing was, that I was prepared to open an account, just followed my friend\'s instructions to ask again. Only difference was that I was going to do it through a different broker to make sure my money was safe - but it turned out from her email that the stocks wouldn\'t belong to me after all and would be impossible to transfer because she\'s going to tie them up into this other trust. Which makes her whole sales pitch a lie.... GROWL!
It was extremely presumtuous (sp) for your aunt to make this plan without consulting EVERYONE first. So tough shit if she has to figure it all out again. This is NOT stirring up trouble, my dear, it is STANDING UP FOR YOURSELF which is a GOOD THING. I would want my share where I can manage it and NOT as part of some lump sum trust account. Just do what you have to do -- continue to be assertive and they can all go to Hell in handbasket. Money brings out the worst in families, that\'s for sure. Hang in there and hang tough!
Good for you for standing up for yourself! I agree with the others - get this where YOU have control and let everyone else worry about their own part. Good luck - stay strong!!!
