NEVER FORGET............SEPT 11TH, 2001

With the 10th anniversary of our countries worst day in history I want to put out a challange to all my DS friends. Most of us remember exactly where we were when that act of pure evil happened to our fellow man. I remember being at the store shopping for my Preschool picking up milk and bread just as I had every Tuesday morning for the past 2 years. Austin was only 8 months old and Brandon and Shelby were in Junior High and Grade school. My husband had kissed me on the cheek and said I will miss you watch over my babies mama I will see you in a few days. He was on his way to the airport traveling for business that morning from Dallas to St. Louis. When I got to the store I felt something was not right. I couldn't find any check out people they were all in the Managers office clued to a little tv. When she came out she said T did you hear about the plane crashing into the building? Not what you want to hear when your husband in on a plane that day.
I ran to my car and turned on the radio once I realize that he was ok and it was not his plane I finished what I needed to do and drove to school. By the time I got there all of my co workers were in tears and I remember the faces of the children. Wanting to comfort my co workers some with family in New York I had to tell them lets get ourselves together walk over to church I worked at St Marks Preschool and light some candles. But we have to keep it together for our kids. They are looking at us and we don't want to scare or frighten them they will not understand. When I got to church I remember praying so hard that God watch over all the families and people of New York that day but also being so grateful that my family was safe. It reminded all of us how to CHERISH AND LOVE THE GIFTS IN OUR LIVES because in an instant it could all be gone.
My husband called our home phone and left me a short but sweet message saying " I'm with you baby hold the kids for me I will be home soon" Of course he was stuck there for several days until he could get a flight home. On Sept 11th, 2001 our nation changed but I held on to LOVE instead of HATE I used all the LOVE I could find and tried to help my family, friends, and co workers the best I could. I had my husband and kids and we were all ok and I was so grateful promising God to never take them for granted. Evil ruled that day but GOODNESS AND LOVE TRIUMPH OVER EVIL. In the days, months and years that followed 9-11 we rebuilt our Nations spirit again showing the world that you can try to knock us down but we have the strength to RE BUILD OUR LIVES AFTER A HORRIBLE DISASTER. OUR LOVE AND SPIRIT CAN NOT BE BROKEN.
I'm asking all my DS friends to try not to focus on our personal problems tomorrow but remember the families and victims of 9-11 and how much they lost that day for something that was out of their control. Remember the mom's that had to tell their children that daddy was taken from us. Remember the hero's and the strength it took for the survivors to go on after that day. On Sept 11th, 2001 I had a husband who loved his family and children who adored their father. Now on Sept 11th, 2011 I no longer have a husband who loves me and the kids are now grown and don't adore him anymore. On Jan 13th 2011 EVIL took over my husband and he left the comfort and security of his loving home. As I reflect on  9-11 tomorrow I will not focus on my pain and hurt but that through the EVIL... LOVE GREW AND WE BECAME STRONGER AND SMARTER BECAUSE OF IT. WE CAN ALL SURVIVE IF WE HANG ON TO EACH OTHER FOR STRENGTH.............................
