Never Expected This
Well, here I am 3 days later and still on bedrest. I began bleeding bright red blood Fri night after our 1st u/s. Sat we had another u/s and confirmed that everything looked fine - still saw both heartbeats. No bleeding during the day on Sat, but then again overnight on Sat. I attributed that to the 2nd u/s so was OK with it. Yesterday had no bleeding all day. I was thinking that maybe this was finally behind us, and then it started again last night. A little heavier and darker overnight. Was pretty heavy about 5 am. That is when I lost it, and just started crying beginning to wonder if this pregnancy was not going to make it. I waited about 2 hrs to get up again, and then it stopped. I called my RE this am. They said they are really not so concerned about it because it keeps stopping. He still thinks it is coming from my cervix and that maybe at night it has longer to pool, and that is why I have it at night. He said they would be worried about the fetus's if the bleeding was not stopping, accompanied by lots of cramping, and passing tissue. Which as a RN I have seen lots of miscarriages and know what it looks like. It does not make it anymore comforting though when you are the one bleeding. However, they were reassuring and said that this is not that uncommon and that it most cases it resolves, just causes alot of angst for the parents. They want me on bedrest for 48 hrs after the bleeding stops, so everytime I have one of these episodes it just pushes it back. I will do whatever I have to do to protect these 2. It is just difficult because we just got the exciting news that we are having twins on Fri, and we have not had time to really be excited or celebrate because all this started a few hrs later. It is hard for me to even feel really excited, because I am also so nervous. There is also the work factor because I am going to be missing even more. I have already missed alot with this cycle. These babies are absolutely my priority and work will just have to deal, but it is still hard not to worry about it. This just came as such a curve ball, but I guess this is lesson #1 in parenting!

Stay strong Mamma! Those two babies are the most precious thing ever. If that means constant bed rest, then your work will just have to deal.
When will they check another u/s? subchorionc hemorrhages are pretty common in ivf patients, particulaly in twins! It\'s very scary but usually resolves with time and the outcomes with SCH are actually BETTER in ivf pts as opposed to natural conception. It\'s not always seen right away on u/s so that might be what\'s going on...might be worth mentioning to you doctor. On and off spotting/bleeding can go on for weeks or even months, and depending on the size, bed rest is recommended but usually just pelvic rest (nothing in the vagina) and just taking it easy. Hang in there!
I am sending LOTS of thoughts and prayers to both you and the babies. BIG hugs to you. The not knowing what is going on has to be SO difficult. Hang in there...
I\'m sorry you have to deal with this. I completely understand how much it must be driving you nuts-with both of mine bleeding lead to miscarriage...I\'m not trying freak you out, both of them happened hours after it started and it didn\'t stop and was accompanied by very heavy cramping...so this does soundn\'t like either of my losses, so you should definately be optomistic. I know it\'s hard, but hang in there. I hope for the best for all 3 of you. *hugs*

If you need me to bring you some ice cream or anything, let me know! I am right around the corner!!! I am thinking about you constantly!!!
Thank you ladies! It is so weird because I have no bleeding during the day, it is just at night. Last night was just a small amount twice when I went to the bathroom. Unfortunately, even a small amount re-sets the 48 hr clock of bedrest from the time it stops. I go back on Thurs or Fri for the next ultrasound.
On the ultrasound on Sat, they did see a small area that could possibly be a subchorionic hemorrhage. My RE still thinks it is coming from my cervix. I am going a little stir crazy, as I have never done more than 3 days bedrest and today is day 4. I am still in pretty good spirits - emotional - but good. Just keep thinking of my 2 little beans and that as long as they are OK and keep growing, I will do whatever I have to.
Oh man! Off the boards a few days and a lot has happened! I hope you\'re feeling better today?? Take care of yourself and those babies!!
