Never been so happy

The babies are still in the ICU and I'm still at home recovering.  I'm stretching out the pain pills as long as they will last (down to 1/2 pill every six hours), hoping that Advil will do the job when these are gone.  But I'm feeling wonderful.   James and I spend each evening talking about how happy we are, and how wonderful the babies are.  Last night I wanted to re-stage a picture that we have of my mom, holding my twin bro and me at 10 days of age.  She looks really haggard.  That's where we thank God for the NICU.  With all their little wires stretched from their cribs (out of the incubators now!) to the chair, we got them both in my arms at the same time, for the first time last night.  It was an amazing feeling.  It almost took my breath away.  I told James I would have paid $50,000 for that evening alone.  To think that we get even more time with them than this.  It's amazing. I hate that I'm crossing this line without all of my friends with me.  I hate that some of you are still fighting this fight, and it's going on for so long, so long.  As we all know, there is nothing I can say to make anything better at all.  But I'll just say that I wish you this happiness with all I have.  And don't give up.  Never, never, never give up.   Much love, Kay, your comrade in arms

Kay I am so happy for you!!!! The best moment in my life so far was when they finally let me hold Ethan and Cole at the same time. It was amazing. Just wait until you get to bring them home. I assure you it only gets better. However, enjoy your sleep now because it will never happen again for a long time!!!!!! I am so happy for you and your husband. Congrats!!! How many weeks were you when you delievered?

Get as much rest as you can while they are at the NICU...take advantage of that. I know you miss them though. :(

Man- I feel like part of the euphoria you have has rubbed off on me and I\'m giddy for you just by reading your post! I love it!! Motherhood really IS everything dreams are made of-isn\'t it? Sorry they have to be in the NICU and not home with you- but that\'s the best place for them right now. Rest up- you\'ll need it! :)
