Never been so happy
The babies are still in the ICU and I'm still at home recovering. I'm stretching out the pain pills as long as they will last (down to 1/2 pill every six hours), hoping that Advil will do the job when these are gone. But I'm feeling wonderful. James and I spend each evening talking about how happy we are, and how wonderful the babies are. Last night I wanted to re-stage a picture that we have of my mom, holding my twin bro and me at 10 days of age. She looks really haggard. That's where we thank God for the NICU. With all their little wires stretched from their cribs (out of the incubators now!) to the chair, we got them both in my arms at the same time, for the first time last night. It was an amazing feeling. It almost took my breath away. I told James I would have paid $50,000 for that evening alone. To think that we get even more time with them than this. It's amazing. I hate that I'm crossing this line without all of my friends with me. I hate that some of you are still fighting this fight, and it's going on for so long, so long. As we all know, there is nothing I can say to make anything better at all. But I'll just say that I wish you this happiness with all I have. And don't give up. Never, never, never give up. Much love, Kay, your comrade in arms
