Neurology
Well My primary care doctor (pcm) has given me a referral to see a neurologist. My hands, arms, feet and portions of my legs have been going painfully numb at all hours of the day and night for more than a month. So I have this number that I've called six times now to try to schedule an appointment to get the ball rolling and figure out what else is wrong. Six times and I've yet to speak to a real person. Sure, automated systems are nice and can be helpful but this is getting silly. My message today was this:"Hello this is Mrs. Z calling for the sixth time to schedule an appointment. Here is my number... again."After the autmated fella with a professional and soothing voice instructs me to leave my name and number he ASSURES me (he actually uses the word assure) that someone will contact me in a timely manner. He LIES.Problem is, this is the only neurologist in a forty mile radius and our family only has one vehicle. Makes it a bit difficult. It's hard enough for him to take time off work to take my to local appointments or for me to drop him off at 0500 when my nightly meds haven't even worn off and I'm loopy as a drunk bird. Gr. Last visit with my PCM I told her about the situation and she said she's had the same complaint from other patients. She advised me to go up there and speak with them face to face and say this:"Look, if you're going to accept tricare then you need to actually accept tricare patience into your clinic and deal with them professionally and compassionately!" If I don't hear back from them in two days time, I will do just that! Why do people insist on irritating me? I'm not pleasant when irritated.
