I have the same test Thursday. I did not receive any instructions. My sister just advised to avoid sweets and carbs prior to the test. Mine is at 10, so I plan to eat scrambled eggs for breakfast. If it was later I was going to have a salad for lunch. I believe you drink a sugary drink when you get there then have your blood drawn an hour later to make sure your body is processing sugar correctly. I plan on eating normal. But going to stick to protein on the day of the test only.
ya i was told tons of water.. they gave me my drink over a month ago its been in my fridge.. i was told some women fait from it.. Im just worried cuz I don\'t eat sugar at all so this might be a shock for my body.. Good luck with you test
Thanks you too. I don\'t eat a lot either. I worry more about throwing up. This is one thing I haven\'t looked forward to. May we not have to come back for a 3 hour test!
I had it with my son and it wasn\'t that bad. Nothing you can do to help your results. Your body will react to the sugar or not. I don\'t eat much sweets and was worried about it. It\'s not to big a glass so it turned out ok but I really didn\'t like the taste, it was way to sweet for me.
Once they get your results you\'ll either have normal levels, border line levels or problem ones. If you are borderline they should have you do a more extensive test.
The worst for me was the wait for the bloodtest, I hate needles but now with all the IF test and IVF I feel I\'m a pro.
good luck.
i had gestational diabetes with my daughter and it was very hard.. i had to test my sugar 4 times a day and watch my diet..the really bad thing was no cake!!.. good luck hun..hope all goes well.
Thanks so much I am sure hoping it comes out ok.. I def don\'t wanna deal with that.. but at the same time my husband was almost 11lbs when he was born and his mom didn\'t even have diabetes.. so we shall see
The nurse told me to eat breakfast, but to make it a protein breakfast, like an egg or so. And the drink tasted like a can of orange soda that had been left out to go flat and kinda concentrate a little bit. It wasn\'t a HUGE amount to drink and I think you have 10 minutes to get it down. And it is what it is - either you pass or fail, you can\'t control the results. It\'ll be fine.
It\'s not so bad.....the drink doesn\'t taste the best but I just chugged it. I had to take two fo these due to being pregnant with twins!! Good luck!!
