Nerve Damage

With nerve damage on the right side of my body. I have a question about this for the doctor.  I have muscle goups on my body not working correctly.  The question I have is, with muscle group A shutting down, can I make muscle group B stronger to take over.  That is one of the redundacies of the body.  The Brain work through electricity.  Another question I have to ask is with nerve damage happening in one place, can the electrical signals find new ways to travel around the nerve damage.  I wonder if that is what happens when Optic Myopia gets better.
