Needing some support..
I am new to this site, so trying to figure this all out. Just thought I would share my experiences with endometriosis. It will be very nice to have some people to vent to who actually understand what I am going through. The only person I really have is my boyfriend and while he is sympathetic, he just doesn't understand how to help or what I need.
My whole journey started in my early teens with horrible, heavy periods. When I was 16, I started on BCP after having my period every 1-2 weeks. That controlled it for a while, but then shortly after starting a relationship with my current boyfriend when I was 18, I began having pain during intercourse and heavy bleeding. I was diagnosed with an endometrial polyp and had that removed via Hysteroscopy/ D&C. The pain continued.
I finally found a doctor who I really trust and actually listened to me when I described the debilitating pain I was experiencing. In December 2012, I scheduled a Laparoscopy. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis. A couple months later, the pain came back and I was just devastated. She recommended a Mirena IUD and I got that in April 2013. It only helped to control my periods for a while, but I decided to keep it as an easy form of BC.
At this time, the pain was starting to really impact my life. I dealt with it for over a year before I went back to my doctor and just said "I can't do this anymore." So, we talked about some options. I have been bleeding almost nonstop from March 2014 through now (July 2014). I am in constant pain that prevents me from sex, causes me to miss work, I had to drop out of summer classes. It is just impacting me every single day.
Last week, I was in so much pain that I was just on the ground screaming and vomiting. I eventually passed out when I was walking to the bathroom. My boyfriend took me to the ER. It took 3 doses of Zofram to reduce my nausea to a tolerable level. I was not given any pain meds in the ER, so the entire time while I waited on my CAT scan, I was in horrible horrible pain. The CAT Scan showed nothing, so Endo struck again.
This was pretty much my breaking point. I was in pain and just tired of having had to live like this for the past several years. I'm 21 years old and half the time can't go out and do anything because of the pain. I am starting Lupron Depot today and am absolutely terrified about that, but my doctor thinks it will help and I'm willing to give anything a try.
I think the Endo has gotten to my bowel and bladder because I am beginning to have those symptoms. The pain is pretty much concentrated in my right side. I am tired all the time and have absolutely no energy.
I have been following the Endo diet for several months with slight relief. I do yoga when I can and always have my heating pad close by.
I just really needed to vent to some people who would understand. I'm curious about people's experiences on Lupron. I've been doing research for a while now, but am still very scared of the potential side effects and am even more scared that it will not help!
