Need to Learn

I can't believe I let someone I used to date take advantage of me the way he did.  He had been abusive in his behavior in our relationship, and I would tell him to get counseling - which he said he would but didn't.  Now he's engaged and he never got the counseling he promised to get as restitution for his abusing me.  I called him on it, and his fiancée told me to leave them alone.  I'm livid.  He's got a learning disability, but he is still completely functional, so this is an issue of giving latitude to someone who I cared about, and it was a mistake. 
 
I am deciding to take responsibility from my end and be more discriminatory with people I associate with.  I'm tired of politically correct behavior that doesn't emphasize personal responsibility.  I'm not compensating for people anymore because they use their disability to make excuses for themselves.  Its time to start emphasizing accountability for the actions of everyone and not make excuses for those that want to find a label to hide behind.
