Need to have a talk with the Auntie
I've been thinking about things, and what happened on the girl's vacation really needs to be addressed. Both of my daughters and their friend handled the situation very badly, and tried to userp my authority as the girl's mother to have the girl committed.
If my younger daughter had listened to what she had been ordered to do, she would have called the police and had the girl arrested with the idea that the girl would have been brought to a hospital rather than to jail. The probability would have been that the police would have arrested the girl for assaulting her brother and put her in jail.
Doing anything else without notifying me would not have been appropriate. Since my younger daughter was not willing to press charges, we averted the situation, however, not the screaming. My older daughter and her friend both said some very disrespectful things to me, and tried to overide my authority as the girl's mother and assume authority that they did not have claiming expertise they did not have.
During the vacation the girl's charger for her ipod, the only texting equipment she currently has in operation, was damaged. I had to wait over a week to replace it, and there was a message from her aunt telling her to tell me to grow up. This cannot stand.
How can I entrust the girl into their care any time in the future after this without making it clear how wrong their actions were. The aunt and her friend made the assumption that I have not gotten the girl the help that she needs, and I have gotten her extensive help. Their assumptions were based upon the aunt's dissapointment in me as her mother, something that I cannot repair at this point.
But I cannot allow her to use my daughter to pay me the disrespect that she feels for me. It interferes with the relationship that I have with the girl and that cannot stand.
