need some guidance
Well first off, I'm pretty new to this, so here it goes. I'm a 23 year old college student who is majoring in Occupational therapy and currently working midnights at a hospital as a nursing assistant. Saturday will be one year! woohoo! I started college back in 2010 and the first two years went great. In the beginning of the third year, everything started to fall apart. The classes were getting harder and my time management skills were poor. That years in 2012, I got excluded because I had a low GPA. I continued my education at a community college for the rest of the year. I was accepted back in 2013. When I got excluded I thought that was the end. I hit rock bottom. I was always saying "why me". I had this perfect picture of how college was going to be and supposed to be, but it was far from it. I felt ashamed, I felt useless, and worthless. I felt very alone because I couldn't tell anyone about it, fearing judgment. The look of disappointment in my parents is what hurt me the most.
Both my parents have never gone to college. they both are assembly line workers at a factory. So, I felt like I owed it to them to finish college. Everything I did was for them, not for me. When I got kicked out of college I then began to see things in a whole new perspective. When I started my education at the community college, I met some of the most incredible people and professors which I am so very grateful for. During that year, I began to find myself, my relationship with God grew stronger, I changed as a person. I saw that I can't live for anyone but myself. I had to do this for me, to better myself, to become something of myself. My end goal is to become an Occupational therapist and I won't stop till I get there.
When I got accepted back in 2013, I made a promise not only to me but to God that I will do everything in my power to raise up my GPA. Ever since then I've been fighting my way back up the latter. I got a volunteer job at the hospital, which that lead to being an employee there. July 11th mark my 1 year anniversary. Everything started finally falling into place and I thank God for that everyday. I learned how to manage my time and to not be afraid to ask for help(I'm still working on that). I feel like God is guiding me in the direction that I'm supposed to go in and all the little victories I achieve, I take. I put in countless hours in school and I work full time and somehow thank God it's working. I still have ways to go, but I'm not a quitter. I will never give up!
Today my mom tells me that I'm 23 years old and it's my 6th year in college and that I should have graduated by now. She always tells me how most of cousins are graduated and have full time jobs and I'm still in college. No matter how much I do it's never enough for my parents. I can give them the whole world and it won't be enough! I'm just sick and tired of hearing this. I know I made a huge mistake and it's no else's fault but my own. I admit that. I'm trying to move forward, but she just keeps on bringing up the past. I feel so alone right now because my parents don't understand. I can't talk to them because they never hear me out. I'm always wrong and they are always right.
I go to school full time, I work part time( feels like full time because I pick up many shifts), I pay for college on my own, I don't ask my parents for anything. I do it all on my own and it seems like its never good enough. I just don't know. I'm a pretty independent person but they just point out my flaws.
Sorry for this being long.
