Need help
I have a great husband and two great kids. My son is 14 and my daughter is 11. I'm having trouble to get them all to help with chores around the house. When I was first diagnosised everyone was helpful and considerate. The last few weeks, all the chores have fallen on my shoulders. I don't know how to get them to understand that I can't keep up. I have ignored some chores, but others do need to get done. I told my husband this morning I will hire a cleaning lady. I also work part time. I'm having a difficult time with the side effects of the chemo. Yesterday the pain put me in bed at 7:30 p.m. Today I'm up doing a few small things around the house and all three of them are watching t.v. No one cooks. I don't either, my neighbors have been great about bringing us meals. If they didn't we wouldn't have a meal. No one does laundry. I guess I'm just frustrated on getting them to understand, this stress probably isn't helping in my recovery. Thanks to you all for listening to my rant. Chris

Oh sweetey....this is just awful. You have cancer are undergoing chemo and the neighbors help out more than hubby and kids?? That is really dysfunctional. Sit down with them and have a heart to heart. Explain how you need assistance. If they love and respect you they will get off the couch and help out~Take Care,Katie
It\'s so hard to avoid stress when it\'s all around, but try to focus on yourself and your recovery. I believe your husband and kids want to help, but they can\'t understand completely what you are going through and they just want things to be as they were. Maybe try to tell your husband exactly what kind of help you expect from him. Put some chores on hold, do only what\'s necessary. Your health is most important. Take care.
Just do what you can and leave the rest. I did get a cleaning lady and I don\'t feel the least guilt about it. I found that the chemo was much tougher than the radiation. Tell your family what you need, in short words that they will understand. Love and hugs Cathy
just an idea....what about a daily planner on the wall and divide up the chores on it and get them to mark it when they\'ve done the chores.?
if you can afford it id get the cleaning lady too...
i think you need all the help you can get
lots of love xx
