Need a Special Buddy for January

Can I convince anyone to be a diet buddy in January, 2013?  And not just any buddy, but a buddy willing to "suffer" along with me, doing the 5:2 diet?
Although I've seen some versions of what is called "intermittent fasting" on the Net, my physical and mental status is not able to fast, even for 24 hours, if that means NO FOOD AT ALL.
Recently became aware of what is called the 5:2 diet.  Two days out of the week you "fast" (not completely) and five days you eat normally.  The two "fasting" days are NOT CONSECUTIVE, so there will be "normal" days between the two.
On the strict days, women are supposed to eat 500 calories, while men are allowed 600.  Personally I am going to do 600, because as a bipolar and being a large woman, 500 would be just too extreme.
While the diet says you can "eat what you want" on the other five days, that can't be taken as license to gorge and binge, obviously.  Especially not for me, an older woman on bipolar meds and with thyroid issues.  I am going to need to count Weight Watcher Points, even on the "eat" days!
So do I see any brave soul RAISING THEIR HAND? I'd really love a buddy!
Yesterday I decided to try the 600 calories.  I divided them into 4 feedings, spaced out every four hours. 10 AM, 2 PM, 6 PM, and 10 PM.  And please don't tell me it's "wrong" to eat so late! I won't get to sleep if I don't--and that wreaks havoc with my mental health.
I managed to live through it.  Wednesday will be my next "fast" day.
DON'T ALL HOLLER AT ONCE!  LOL
Hoping for that one strong soul to be my buddy.  Thanks.

I would totally do it but I don\'t think I could get through a day eating only 500-600 calories :(

No takers here! I would if I were living alone but I hate cooking 2 different meals for me and hubby. But I hope you get a brave soul and wish you luck with it.

As for eating late at night, I don\'t think it makes a bit of difference as long as you don\'t go over your points/calories for the entire day.

I will be your diet buddy and I know it takes some will power to do any sort of diet. You are not doing anything wrong by spreading the food over the day. I do pretty much the same except that i eat three meals, the last at around 6 and drink lots of water to stop getting headaches and feeling too hungry, I try to go to bed earlish on my LoCal (as I refer to them in my handbook) days too. I did one yesterday and will do another on Thursday. x

mtanton, could you give me a first name? I\'m thrilled that you\'ll be my 5:2 diet buddy! I\'ve decided to do the LoCal days on Wednesday and on one weekend day, Sat. or Sun. depending on whether I have any plans to go out. For me, on the days I will eat only 600 calories, it MUST BE a \"lazy\" day. That\'s the only way I can cope with it. I\'m so glad we are friends! Tomorrow is Wednesday, so I\'m gearing up.

Let me know how you like this diet. Sounds very extreme to me.. The other 5 days do you keep track of your calories?

my aunt did the 5/2 and she said it was the only diet that ever worked for her. its also VERY GOOD for your body to fast because it gets rid of poisons in your body.

back when i was normally skinny (which ceased partially from not weighing myself daily at some point and from there some other things) when i was skinny most of my life, i used to weigh in daily and if i was three pounds up, i simply DIDN\'T EAT THAT DAY it was GREAT, the next day or two, i would be back to skinny or even less. it was never difficult. i would read or write a lot. you can\'t go out while doing that. drink a lot of water. you can have sugarless jello. its easy. you can have black coffee. lots of things. you get used to it and i do think its healthy. xxoo
