National tragedy

Many New Zealanders and no doubt others feeling very sad that our mining disaster has ended so tragically.  After the first explosion last Friday, at time of writing not even a week away, we all hoped there would be survivors.  Then on Wednesday a second explosion brought an end to that. Flags been at half mast and many people cant quite believe it. 29 people dead and all those families bereaved so near Christmas - all in small communities too.
My maternal grandfather was a miner in Wales for part of his life and I remember my mother telling stories about a big pit disaster to me when I was a child.  When very upset  I get massive stomach cramps and have to go to bed so although I went out to prior engagement that night had to leave and get to bed.  Just so sad.
So of course the Beast crept under the covers too and feeling stiff and sore since.  Every little ache...  Have to pull self together as out of the blue got a call yesterday from a gym I went to look at because of my goal to get fit again.  They had an open day and everyone who went put name in for a draw for free year membership.  It seems I won.  Think it really is genuine too but will find out today for sure.
Need to get over this glitch as big weekend - singout with Keynotes my bbshop style group - carols round the civic centre Christmas tree "opening' - with the Messiah concert same night then on to flight next morning to see more of daughter singing in Wellington.
