My Winter Darkness
My Winter Darkness
Current mood:calm
We tossed around the way of things Of healing love and painful stings If they might change or stay the same Matter of perception, heard as blame Our different sights, the way we saw The same focuses of our desires raw So imperfect, and not in-synch To share light pleasures, song and drink Perhaps for you, nothing at all has changed The good at least, you would let remain From my gutter and as far as I could tell The vase has cracks and a warping swell The wind blew across my heart today Thumping, panging, it won't rip away And the love I feel, but a one-way air Just a dark lonely game of solitaire At this frosty window I carve my peace Of poems, oranges, and Christmas things My heart it stabs and chokes the rest of me The hours grow long with pain and misery Love expired upon your breast We didn't open the symbolic chest To accept the peace down off the shelf I felt too scared to even be myself Carefully was the way I trodded Soaked with grief and doubt I prodded Upon your heart I found the nails In removing them would be my hell Our darkness swirled, our demons fought Our ideas of right and wrong are naught I close my eyes and what I see Is cutting crushing killing me
