My turning point
Recently I sent this message to Hopefull to give her some insight as to why I chose tx. I am posting it here now in light of all who read these journals trying to decide if tx is for them or not. I feel this is part of my obligation (if there is one) to being part of this group of caring and giving individuals at D.S.
To answer the question of "what was your turning point?" Well it took a long time. I was dx'd early in the 90's and was aware of interferon for tx. Just never got serious enough to try it. Thought I'd never live long enough to let the hep kill me. Starting to sound a little familiar ? Well I kept working through my addictive years and always had some form of insurance. When I started to have problems with my diabetes they started to do more blood work and kept an eye on my liver functions. Well they started to get worse. Which led to an ultrasound. Then a biopsy. I am at stage four cirrhosis, grade 2, geno 2 . That was pretty much it. If you need a liver transplant and have hep c. you get a liver with hep and live as long as that gives you. No second chance at transplant list. If you clear the virus and still need a trans. then you get a clean liver. Better chance of living to your full potential life span, or getting hit by a bus. Either way you used all your power to influence your destiny. God will decide if you have earned the length of time you get or a little longer. It is up to you to try to help yourself first. God will carry you through the rough times and He sees all the good you do. That is how you earn the time you get. I pray every night for the good of all mankind and am not afraid to ask for the guidance and courage to make the right decisions that will help me stay strong and able to do His work. That is a win/win for both. I hope this helps you some. As far as how I'm doing. Well so far so good. The sides are slowly introducing themselves and giving me room to adjust. There is a long way to go for sure but one day at a time gets you there. The first sides were anxiety, then yawning. That is it so far. Well I hope you decide what is best for you but if it helps, remember the part about the liver...with hep or without....your choice Tim

Great journal Tim...God is good and loves us in spite our ugliness and believe me at one time I had alot of ugly! Bitter, resentful, full of hate, revenge, judgemental and critical just to say a few. However God still loved me and brought me out of that and replaced it with His love, his joy, His peace and His strength it is appointed to every man to die however after turning my life over to the Lord my life is now in His hands and the enemy can not take me out before my time and I believe I have much futher to go because I have alot of things to do for my Lord not to win His affection but because I love Him so much had it not been for Him I would be dead along time ago! God bless you my friend keep your attention on Him (not your works ) and He will keep you strong!!!!!!
this is just the first one i\'ve read. i\'m really glad you brought these back up as it\'s hard to go back and read friend\'s old entries. i really like your reasoning and philosophy. i\'ll keep going. you have good titles, too!
