my tumblr page and "lifeclass"
hi all- i have created a tumblr page to share my writing and other things. other than my EDNOS article, i don't think i'll be posting anything ED-related. the only reason i posted that is because i want people to see ind t. maybe it can help someone. i pray god leads people suffering with EDNOS to it. i pray it will be the beginning of healing for others. anyway, if you have a tumblr, come see me @ http://jesuslovemusic.tumblr.com . currently, i have one poem, song lyrics, and my article up. but i'll be adding to it, trust me.
i signed up for oprah's lifeclass...a really innovative, interactive, "class" in self exploration. i have always liked oprah. i admire her for her courage, charity work, and ability to really make people think. her show was never about scandalous cheating husbands, or things that would have been considered "trashy daytime tv". she made it about things that mattered. i love tihat.
i am a member of her book club. i used to just go out and get her selections and outright devour them. i have always read and written several years above my age level. as a 7th grader, i was reading at the 10thi grade level. by high school, i had the reading and writing skills of a college graduate. i say that not to brag, but to illustrate that it can be very hard for me to find a REALLY good book. for years, oprah's book club selections were the only books that challanged me. well...those and shakespeare.
my automatic trips to barnes & noble ended after she selected eckhart tolle's "a new earth". i quickly discovered the book did not at all line up with my christian worldview, and that it preached new age doctrine. i was shocked when i saw an interview with tolle where he claimed that the ego was at the root of all organized religion. so i gave the book to goodwill.
the first class deals with a new earth and what holds us back. i ignored all referances to the book and just focused on the questions and other content. i like it thus far. the first question was "what's holding you back?" i may not agree with tolle, but oprah's questions sure do make for some challanging and honest journal entries!-fallon
