My Trip to the Doctor Yesterday

Saturday, February 21, 2009 – 1:25 P.M. I went to see my doctor yesterday for what I now consider a monthly visit. The first thing that was done was to take my blood pressure, which had been somewhat high on Tuesday. It was still high but had come down a notch or two. Yesterday, the reading was 135/106.   My doctor said that I should worry about it because it was serious, but not to worry so much as to make myself sick. That sounds like somewhat of a contradiction to me. He said that he was not going to treat it unless my blood pressure remained high for three months in a row.   When my CNAs showed up this morning to get me out of bed, I was informed that they were supposed to take my vitals every day from now on. My blood pressure was 134/76 this morning.   I know that some people on here have been talking to me about getting probiotics for my recurrent UTIs. I talked to my doctor again about this, and he said he did not want me to have any. He said that the probiotics are used mainly to help treat diarrhea problems, rather than UTIs. Since he is the doctor, I did not feel that I could argue too much with him about that.   I told him that I wanted to see a urologist, who I had seen two or three years ago. He agreed with that, and referred for me back to that same doctor. The only problem now (and it is a small one) is that the doctor has moved to a new office, and my doctor apparently forgot to write out the new address and phone number for me. I will have to make a phone call to my doctor's office on Monday and try to get the information over the phone.   My home health care agency seems to be having trouble finding someone to replace a CNA, who I said I no longer wanted here. I probably should not have done this, but I told them that I had had second thoughts about this CNA, and that I was willing to give her another chance. (Okay, I can be a softy sometimes.).   It was in the 60s yesterday, but with a very high and cold wind. Just before going to bed, I opened the blinds far enough so that I was able to see that the ground was completely covered with snow. Yuck! I am now fighting a cold today, and I am sorry to say that it seems to be winning the battle. The weather here cannot seem to make up its mind what it really wants to do. Tomorrow it is supposed to be in the 60s. Why would anyone move to Denver, unless they absolutely had to?
