my trip to Lancaster
Hi I went with my meet up group to Lancaster PA for a fall foilage train trip. The train was in Strasburg. I took a bus and a train to meet up with two other members, one was driving. We left a little late, took two hours, a little more, to get there. The ride through the country side was beautiful. We stopped in downtown Lancaster and had lunch in a vegetarian/vegan restaurant called the seed. Mind you my driver was vegan and I think the other gal was vegetarian. I'm neither but was willing to try something new. The rest of the group was eating in a buffet place called shady maple. After lunch we walked around, found the farmer's market, checked it out. We walked around and found gallery row, a street that had art shops. It was like visiting an art museum. Then we headed for the train. We had to pick up our tickets from.the booth. We were on a first class parlor that had plush seats that swiveled. We had and excellent view on either side. We saw wonderful scenery, saw Amish tending their farms. Saw horses and cows, there wasn't much fall foliage to see from.the train, we did see some on the drive home.
My one complaint was the train ride was so short. Just as I settled in for the ride the train stopped, the conductor mentioned something about letting another train go by, it turned out to be an engine (the train we were on was an old.style steam engine with smoke coming out of a stack up top,the kind you see in an old western)
I thought we were continuing on only to find out it was over and we were heading back :( the company was good..we chit chatred a little. The group is going to the white house today to view the garden. I have to work :(.
The ride back was nice..we saw plenty of Amish in their buggies
