my trip

well we are back from our trip!
where should i start......the dog got her tail caught in the door 2 days before we left, 6 stitches and 6 hundred dollars.
the trip up and the rally were fun, good people good roads and good food....pictures to follow. the fun starts on the return trip (sunday) we got 2 hours out of thuder bay and the truck over heats (we think) we find a ford dealership but its closed and monday is a holiday.....can you see where this is going? we book a room and do some sight seeing the next day and then show up at the dealership at 8:00 am. their deisel machanic wont be in until 1:00pm because he has a dentist appointment.
by 3:00pm he tells us that it is bad and expensive (cracked heads and a blown water pump estimate...$6000.00. we try to rent a vehicle from the next town....they dont have one single vehicle in........oh and the dealership hasnt even offered us a coffee or a water or a kick in the ass this whole time....whatever happened to customer service????
so we unload the bike from the trailer and set of to thunder bay again. 2 hours later we arrive at the airport in thunder bay to rent a vehicle.....get this $2600.00....are you kidding me????!!!!!
we are driving into town to see what we can find and we stop at the harley dealership to see if they can help us and we run into the chapter director  and he happens to own a nissan dealership....he says to give him till morning and he will find something for us.......so another motel room.
i am exhausted and starting to feel pretty bad....so glad i over estimated the oxygen i needed....i had lots.
so we show up after breakfast and \john sets us up with a one month lease for $1000.00 to be negociated if we need it less time. so i have to drive the truck back and tom drives the bike....we load everything up in the new truck and off we go. we are on the road and tom asks me to get the us money out of the glove box with our passports....you guessed it....the money is gone!!!!! luckily our passports were still there.
one more motel room in mackinac......the most comfortable bed and great pillows.....and we only get to sleep 6 hours and we are back on the road....and we make it ti detroit to cross back into canada and we drove around in circles trying to find the bridge entrance......lots of construction....we finally make it home and head out to pick up the dog from our friends......they had not changed her bandage all week, so they next day we head to the vet and she said that the tip of her tail looked like the tissue had died.....great
so after a wonderful weekend of the cone collar and trying to keep her away from the tail the decision was made to take 6 inches off the end.....so she goes in tomorrow for the surgery       another $1000.00 or so.
then i took my dads truck in to have it safetied and it didnt pass......so theres another $1000.00
i swear at this rate everything Dad left me will be gone in repairs and vet bills.
i guess i am done venting for now....lol lets see what this week will bring, need to check that lottery ticket we bought up north.....lol.....something should change our luck!!!!

This story is absolutely unbelievable. One family simply cannot have such bad luck! Your attitude is amazing. I will be thinking of this saga the next time I have to wait awhile in a check-out line or whatever. Best wishes on that lottery ticket.

Whoa!! It sounds like Lady Luck had it out for you all. I\'m so sorry, as I was reading this entry \"what\" escaped my mouth several times. I hope the scales have balanced and you have an equally peaceful, beneficial time. I can\'t believe the rental rate, the cracked head-dealt with that one but I was surprised at the cost. I was lucky to have a 4 cylinder that was much cheaper to fix.

Poor dog, I hope she is feeling and looking better. They seem to bounce back much quicker than humans after that. I remembered worrying myself to death when Butch was going in to surgery. He came through much better than I ever expected.

Hope the light shines your way.

Love, Peace and Courage,

Kim
