My thoughts about recovery and defects of character

Just thinking today...It's not letting go of evil...we all have the innate capacity for hideous evil and it is always inside us--we can't just let go of our defects of character...they will always creep their ugly heads and always seek to overpower us. These defects will rob us of acceptance, willingness,humility, submission to any kind of recovery and will keep us sick and afflicted with our addictions...Our 12 step program--yes you must use it no matter how much you think it's b.s., or don't want to for whatever reason--it is there, not just to overcome addiction, it is there to teach us principles for us to use every day in our personal lives---Our 12 step program teaches us about our defects of character and how to deal with them, pray about them and only with the help of Our Higher Power--whom I believe is the Lord--can we expect to root out the weeds of our personal defects and plant seeds of moral character that can and will be honoring to Our higher Power, moral character that can be used by  our H. P. to uplift, encourage, build up others instead of tear them down....it's not about letting go of our evil character defects, it's about uprooting them and replanting a new way of thinking and acting .This is only possible through submission to our H.P.....we can't uproot our evil defects on our own...Hope you are planting a H.P.-honoring soul garden with the help of yourH.P. and that you pursue with all eagerness, earnestness, devotion, commitment and sincerity your Recovery.
