My sunshine

I miss my sunshine. I miss her smiling face. I miss when she was happy. I miss when she trusted the world and felt safe. I failed her, and I don't care if I couldn't of known. I should of known. I should of protected her.

I hate to see her cry. I hate that her sunshine has dimmed. I deeply hurt when she hurts herself. My heart is stabbed and my breath is weaker when she speaks about not wanting to live. My stomach twists and knots when she describes her view of the world.

I want to start over, to hold her again as a baby. I want to protect her and never let anyone stay in her room. I want her to be better and not so broken.
