My Strokes

Hi, I'm Lauren. I got sick with spinal meningitis at 2 years old. I was in a coma for 10 days and almost died. The doctor said if I wake up out of a coma it's a It 50/50 I was going to die. I was a  50% chance that I would be deaf, blind, headache or special need. I over came the odds! When I came out of a coma I had a massive stroke and paralyzed on the right side of my body. After the meningitis. I had epilepsy for 20 years. My epilepsy got worse into HS and college years. I had 9 seizures a month. When i was 21 my neurologist told me that I was a candidate for brain surgery. I though about it for a month and a half. I told him I want to get the surgery in 2009. I was getting one of the best surgeons in the country. The first surgery was April 21st and it went really well. The next surgery was a week later April 28th. I woke up crying and  my mom wanked in the room and asked me what was wrong. (I had premonition that I was going to have another stroke. My mom said NO.) So, I went into surgery 9 hours later my surgeon came out and told my mom and sister ( Lauren, she had another stroke into surgery.) I over same the odds again. May 3rd 2009 I want into rehab center. I was supposed to be in there for 2 maybe 3 months. I made it out after 3 weeks. I had 2 massive strokes same month same week same day 20 years apart. I had 2 massive strokes, paralyzed twice, brain surgery, aphasia. Now I'm seizure free and med free! I'm a SURVIVOR!!!!
